PROJECTS & RECENT PROGRAMS

LITERACY:

Bringing Literacy to the Youths of Rainier Valley. We are proud sponsor literacy  programs at Franklin HS, Rainier Beach HS, Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK Jr.), Kimball & Van Asselt Elementary Schools. Current  Projects:

      Little Free Libraries-for home fronts, schools and businesses in Columbia City/Hillman City.

    • xbot robotics - Franklin HS team xbot, a nationally recognized competition robotics team. Each year, FHS students work side by side with professional engineers: design, build & program 120 lb robotis in six and 1/2 short weeks!
    •  850-page Picture Dictionaries distributed to third graders at S. Shore, Graham Hill, St. Edwards Elementary Schools.
    • Financial support for SEED's application for a low-power FM Radio License
    • MLK Robotics - Fun with Lego Mindstorms
    • Kimball Cougars – Fun with WeDo Robotics
    • MLK Elemantary Teacher Grants

 

Nov. 19 Program: Tish Johnson "Washington's NEW Marijuana Retail Industry"

 None of the new marijuana stores are open yet but the state is promogulating regulations on locations, taxes, packaging, ways to limit access for underage users, etc.  Come find out what's been happening and when the first new stores will open.  Our presenter is commercial real estate broker and RVRC member Tish Johnson.
